Antibodies used in autophagy research are of special interest to Biosensis. We offer 30 antibodies that target the autophagy research area including antibodies against Beclin-1, GABARAP, ATG12, ATG5, ATG16, Ubiquitin and ATG7. Biosensis antibodies can be used in many applications including ELISA, western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC). In their recent study, Cooney and colleagues (2009) used the Biosensis ATG16L1 antibody R-158-100. In addition, Chien et al (2011) and Lee et al (2011) have published findings using the Biosensis ATG7 antibody R-161-100.
Autophagy is an intracellular process involved in the removal of damaged or misfolded proteins or organelles. The study of Autophagy has grown rapidly over the past decade, although it was first described nearly 50 years ago. Programmed cell death was thought to be the primary role for autophagy, but this has now extended to repair mechanisms, nutrient starvation and infection control. It is not surprising that inappropriate autophagic activity is suspected in a host of different diseases. |
