| Description |
Tachykinins are active peptides which excite neurons, evoke behavioural responses, are potent vasodilators and secretagogues, and contract many smooth muscles. Tachykinin-3 is a secreted protein and its expression during pregnancy is confined to the outer syncytiotophoblast of the placenta. Plasma concentrations of Tachykinin-3 are grossly elevated in pregnancy-induced hypertension and pre-eclampsia. |
