- Product Description The human Metalloproteinase inhibitor 1 (TIMP-1) Kit is a sandwich ELISA. The capture antibody is a polyclonal human TIMP-1 antibody pre-coated onto the 96-well strip plates provided in the kit. Human test samples and standards of known TIMP-1 concentration are added to these wells and allowed to complex with the bound TIMP-1 antibody. A biotinylated human TIMP-1 polyclonal antibody is then added. This detection antibody binds to the antigen thus completing the sandwich. After washing, an enzyme Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase complex (ABC) is added which binds to the second antibody. The peroxidase substrate TMB is added to induce a coloured reaction product. The intensity of this coloured product is directly proportional to the concentration of TIMP-1 present in the samples. The purpose of this kit is the in-vitro quantitative determination of human TIMP-1 in samples such as culture supernatant, serum, plasma (Heparin), plasma (EDTA) and saliva. This kit has been configured for research use only and is not to be used in diagnostic or clinical procedures.

- Immunogen Description The matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a large family of zinc endopeptidases that degrade extracellular matrix components such as fibronectin and collagen type III. The tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase (TIMPs) complex with these matrix metalloproteinases and irreversibly inactivate them. The TIMP proteins are homologous and are either secreted in soluble form (TIMP1, TIMP2 and TIMP4) or bind to extracellular matrix components (TIMP3).
