Description |
NT3 is a member of the neurotrophin family, that controls survival and differentiation of visceral and proprioceptive sensory neurons. NT3 is closely related to both NGF and BDNF. It may be involved in the maintenance of the adult nervous system, and may affect development of neurons in the embryo when it is expressed in human placenta. NT3-deficient mice generated by gene targeting display severe movement defects of the limbs. The mature peptide of this protein is identical in all mammals examined including human, pig, rat and mouse. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted protein. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Brain and peripheral tissues. SIMILARITY: Belongs to the NGF-beta family. |

Antigen |
A synthetic peptide (TVLGEIKTGNSPVKQY) corresponding to amino acid sequence 174-189 from human neurotrophin 3 (NT3). |
Other Names |
NT-3; NTF3; Neurotrophin-3; HDNF; Nerve growth factor 2; NGF-2; |
Accession |
P20783 NTF3_HUMAN |
Produced in |
Rabbit |
Purity |
Affinity purified on antigen column |
Applications |
Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Western Blotting (WB). A concentration of 0.1-0.5 ug/mL is recommended for WB. Human NT3 has a predicted length of 257 amino acids and MW of 29 kDa. A concentration of 0.5-1.0 ug/mL is recommended to detect NT3 in paraffin embedded tissues. Antigen retrieval by boiling the paraffin / formalin section in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 20 minutes is required. Biosensis recommends optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user. |
Specificity |
The specificity of this antibody has been confirmed by WB and IHC against the antigen. |
Cross-reactivity |
Human; mouse; rat; |
Blast it |
If you wish to use this product in a species other than those specified here and want to determine the amino acid sequence homology between the immunogen and the corresponding protein in that species, simply copy the amino acid sequence for this immunogen and test it on the BLAST database that you can access through the link below. Please note that antibodies raised against synthetic peptides are quite often very specific for that peptide. What this means in practise is that a single amino acid difference may be enough to restrict the specificity to a particular molecule.
The BLAST database can also be used to compare any amino acid sequence between species and between protein. The full amino acid sequence of the target protein can be found by following the link in the Accession field. You can then search any amino acid sequence in the target protein using the BLAST database. When selecting a sequence to search, please chose carefully, as the sequence you chose may be a precursor rather than the mature protein for example. |
