Rabbit polyclonal antibody to rh Matrix metalloproteinase-2: Affinity purified

Catalogue No. R-1735-100
Description The matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a large family of zinc endopeptidases. All MMPs are synthesized as inactive proenzymes. The activation of these proenzymes is a critical step that leads to degradation of extracellular matrix components such as fibronectin and collagen type III. MMP2 is activated by other MMPs such as MMP14 and MMP16. MMP2 is known to degrade collagen types IV, V, VII and X as well as gelatin type I.
Batch No. See product label
Unit size 100 ug
Antigen E. coli-derived human MMP2 recombinant protein (aa: 429-660)
Antibody Type Rabbit polyclonal, affinity purified
Other Names 72 kDa type IV collagenase; EC; 72 kDa gelatinase; Matrix metalloproteinase-2; MMP-2; Gelatinase A; TBE-1; MMP2; CLG4A;
Accession P08253 MMP2_HUMAN;
Produced in Rabbit
Molecular Weight Human MMP2 (precursor) has a predicted length of 660 residues and MW of 74 kDa.
Compound Name 72 kDa type IV collagenase
Purity Affinity purified on immunogen column
Applications Western Blotting (WB) and ELISA. A concentration of 0.1-0.5 ug/mL is recommended for WB and ELISA. Biosensis recommends optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
Cross-reactivity Tested for human (WB), expected to react with mouse and rat due to ~95% degree of amino acid homology.
Blast it If you wish to use this product in a species other than those specified here and want to determine the amino acid sequence homology between the immunogen and the corresponding protein in that species, simply copy the amino acid sequence for this immunogen and test it on the BLAST database that you can access through the link below. Please note that antibodies raised against synthetic peptides are quite often very specific for that peptide. What this means in practise is that a single amino acid difference may be enough to restrict the specificity to a particular molecule. The BLAST database can also be used to compare any amino acid sequence between species and between protein. The full amino acid sequence of the target protein can be found by following the link in the Accession field. You can then search any amino acid sequence in the target protein using the BLAST database. When selecting a sequence to search, please choose carefully, as the sequence you choose may be a precursor rather than the mature protein for example.
Form Lyophilised with 5mg BSA, 0.9mg NaCl, 0.2mg Na2HPO4, 0.05mg Thimerosal, 0.05mg NaN3
Reconstitution Spin vial briefly before opening. Reconstitute in 100 uL of sterile distilled water to achieve an antibody concentration of 1 mg/mL. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
Storage Store lyophilised antibody at 2-8C. After reconstitution, store at 2-8C short-term (1 month). Aliquot and store at -20C for a higher stability. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Expiry Date 12 months after purchase
