Application(s)WB
Antibody HostRabbit
Antibody TypePolyclonal
SpecificityThe specificity of this antibody has been confirmed by WB against the antigen. Human; mouse; rat;
Species ReactivityHuman, Mouse, Rat
Immunogen DescriptionA synthetic peptide (DELDSNMELQRMIA) corresponding to a region (68-81) from human Bax isoform alpha. To enhance the immunological response, this peptide was coupled to carrier protein BSA.
ConjugateUnconjugated
Purity DescriptionAffinity purified on antigen column
Application DetailsWestern Blotting (WB). A concentration of 1.0-2.0 µg/mL is recommended for WB. Human Bax (isoform alpha) has a predicted length of 192 amino acids and MW of 21 kDa. Biosensis recommends optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Scientific BackgroundBax is a member of the Bcl-2 family of proteins which act as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators. Bax forms a heterodimer with Bcl-2 and functions as an apoptotic activator by accelerating programmed cell death. Bax expression is regulated by the tumor suppressor p53 and has been shown to be involved in p53-mediated apoptosis. A number of Bax isoforms are produced from alternative splicing.
