Application DetailsImmunohistochemistry (IHC) and Western Blotting (WB). A concentration of 0.5-2.0 µg/mL is recommended for WB. Rat MAP2 (Isoform MAP2x) has a predicted length of 1,861 residues and MW of 202 kDa. A concentration of 1.0-2.0 µg/mL is recommended to detect MAP2 in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues as well as formalin/acetone fixed frozen tissues. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user.
TargetMicrotuble-associated protein 2 (MAP2)
SpecificityThe specificity of this antibody has been confirmed by WB and IHC against the antigen. Human; Rat; Mouse;
Reconstitution InstructionsSpin vial briefly before opening. Reconstitute in 1 mL of sterile-filtered PBS (pH 7.4) to achieve an antibody concentration of 100 µg/mL. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.

Scientific BackgroundMAP2 is a major microtubule associated protein of brain tissue. MAP2 promotes microtubule assembly and interacts with neurofilaments, actin and other elements of the cytoskeleton. At least 4 isoforms have been identified arising from alternative splicing.
