Alternative NamesEC 5.99.1.3; DNA topoisomerase II; alpha isozyme; TOP2A; TOP2;
Application(s)WB
Antibody HostRabbit
Antibody TypePolyclonal
SpecificityThe specificity of this antibody has been confirmed by WB against the antigen. Human; rat;
Species ReactivityHuman, Rat
Immunogen DescriptionA synthetic peptide (RKPSTSDDSDSNFEK) corresponding to a region (1466-1480) from human DNA topoisomerase 2-alpha. To enhance the immunological response, this peptide was coupled to carrier protein BSA.
ConjugateUnconjugated
Purity DescriptionAffinity purified on antigen column
Application DetailsWestern Blotting (WB). A concentration of 1.0-2.0 µg/mL is recommended for WB. Human TOP2A (isoform 1) has a predicted length of 1,531 residues and MW of 174 kDa. Biosensis recommends optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Scientific BackgroundDNA topoisomerase 2 catalyzes the transient breaking and rejoining of double stranded DNA during events such as DNA synthesis and transcription. Two forms of this enzyme exist, alpha and beta. DNA topoisomerase 2 alpha (TOP2A) is localized to chromosome 17 and the beta gene is localized to chromosome 3. At least 4 isoforms of TOP2A are produced by alternate splicing.
