Application DetailsImmunohistochemistry (IHC) and Western Blotting (WB). A concentration of 0.5-1.0 µg/mL is recommended for WB. Rat synaptophysin has a predicted length of 307 residues and a MW of 38 kDa. A concentration of 1.0-2.0 µg/mL is recommended to detect synaptophysin in formalin/acetone fixed tissues. Biosensis recommends optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
TargetSynaptophysin
SpecificityThe specificity of this antibody has been confirmed by WB and IHC against the antigen. Rat
Reconstitution InstructionsSpin vial briefly before opening. Reconstitute in 1 mL of sterile-filtered PBS (pH 7.4) to achieve an antibody concentration of 100 µg/mL. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
Storage InstructionsAt least 12 months after purchase at 2-8°C (lyophilized formulations). After reconstitution, aliquot and store at -20°C for a higher stability. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Expiration Date12 months after date of receipt (unopened vial).
Scientific BackgroundSynaptophysin is a 38 kDa glycoprotein present in the membranes of neuronal presynaptic vesicles in brain, spinal cord, retina, vesicles of adrenal medulla, neuromuscular junctions and endocrine cells. It is also expressed by neuroendocrine cells, both normal and neoplastic. Synaptophysin is a useful marker for the identification of normal neuroendocrine cells and neuroendocrine neoplasms.
