- Application Details Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Western Blotting (WB). A concentration of 0.25-0.50 µg/mL is recommended for WB. Human calponin has a predicted length of 297 aa and a MW of 34 kDa. A concentration of 0.5-1.0 µg/mL is recommended to detect calponin in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues. Biosensis recommends optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

- Scientific Background Calponin is a thin filament associated protein that binds calmodulin, actin and tropomyosin. The multi-gene family of calponins includes calponin 1 (CNN1), 2 (CNN2) and 3 (CNN3). CNN1 is expressed in smooth muscle and tissues containing significant amounts of smooth muscle. This antibody is predicted to detect all three forms of calponin.
