SpecificityHuman. Species cross-reactivity includes rat.
Species ReactivityHuman, Rat
Immunogen DescriptionThe antibody has been made against the full length recombinant human vimentin protein expressed in and purified from E Coli. The antibody binds to a region in the C-terminal “tail” region of vimentin included in the peptide SRISLPLPNFSSLNLRE.
Application DetailsWestern Blotting (WB), Immunocytochemistry (ICC), Immunohistochemistry (IHC). A dilution of 1:5,000 - 1:10,000 is recommended for WB. A dilution of 1:100 - 1:500 is recommended for IC and IH. Biosensis recommends optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Scientific BackgroundVimentins are class-III intermediate filaments found in various non-epithelial cells, especially mesenchymal cells. Vimentin is attached to the nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondria, either laterally or terminally.Vimentins are Involved with LARP6 in the stabilization of type I collagen mRNAs for CO1A1 and CO1A2.( Ref: uniprot.org)
Left: Visualization of vimentin expression in rat cortical neuron-glial cell culture by Immunofluorescent analysis. Section was stained with mouse anti-Vimentin antibody, M-2121-100, (green, 1:5,000) and costained with rabbit polyclonal antibody to GFAP, R-1374-50, (red, 1:5,000). DAPI staining of nuclear DNA (blue). Vimentin is contained in fibroblastic, microglial and developing astrocytic cells which appear green. Maruting astrocytic cells appear red or yellow as they contain varying amounts of GFAP and vimentin.Right: Analysis by western blot of whole brain tissue lysates with M-2121-100 (green, 1:5,000) with band at approx. 50kDa.
