Alternative NamesB-cell-specific transcription factor; BSAP; PAX5
Paired box protein Pax-5 is a member of the paired box (PAX) family of transcription factors. This family has a highly conserved DNA-binding motif known as the paired box. Paired box protein Pax-5 may play an important role in B-cell differentiation as well as neural development and spermatogenesis. It is involved in the regulation of the CD19 gene, a B-lymphoid-specific target gene. It localises to the nucleus and is expressed at early B-cell differentiation in the developing CNA and in adult testis. A defect in Paired box protein Pax-5 is a cause of acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Immunohistochemical detection of Paired box protein Pax-5 on formalin fixed, paraffin-embedded, human tonsil tissue. Anti-Paired box protein Pax-5 primary antibody, catalogue number M-857-100, was used at a concentration of 1 µg/mL.
