A concentration of 0.5-1 µg/mL is recommended to detect the protein in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues. Heat antigen retrieval is required.   • Scientific Background Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a disulfide linked homodimeric protein associated with angiogenesis, vasculogenesis and endothelial cell growth. At least 10 isoforms of VEGF are produced by alternative splicing with varying levels of expression. The isoforms VEGF189, VEGF165 and VEGF121 are widely expressed whereas the isoforms VEGF206 and VEGF145 are uncommon. Isoforms VEGF165 and VEGF121 are freely secreted whereas isoform VEGF189 remains cell associated.
