    Product Info

  • Product Name CD44, Human, ELISA assay
  • Product Description google The Human CD44 ELISA kit is a sandwich ELISA. The capture antibody is a goat polyclonal CD44 antibody pre-coated onto the 96-well strip plates provided in the kit. Human test samples and standards of known CD44 concentration are added to these wells and allowed to complex with the bound CD44 antibody. A biotinylated CD44 goat polyclonal antibody is then added. This detection antibody binds to the antigen thus completing the sandwich. After washing, an enzyme Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase complex (ABC) is added which binds to the second antibody. The peroxidase substrate TMB is added to induce a coloured reaction product. The intensity of this coloured product is directly proportional to the concentration of CD44 present in the samples. The purpose of this kit is the in-vitro quantitative determination of human CD44 in samples such as culture supernatant, cell lysates, serum, plasma (Heparin) and plasma (EDTA). This kit has been configured for research use only and is not to be used in diagnostic or clinical procedures.
  • Alternative Names CD44 antigen; LHR; MDU2; MDU3; MIC4; Extracellular matrix receptor III; ECMR-III; GP90 lymphocyte homing/adhesion receptor; HUTCH-I; Heparan sulfate proteoglycan; Hermes antigen; Hyaluronate receptor; Phagocytic glycoprotein 1; Phagocytic glycoprotein I; PGP-1; PGP-I;
  • Application(s) ELISA
  • Specificity Human CD44
  • Species Reactivity Human
  • Immunogen Description The standard for this kit is recombinant human CD44 produced in NS0 cells; Immunogen sequence: Gln21 - Pro220
  • Range 780 pg /mL - 50,000 pg/mL
  • Sensitivity < 20 pg/mL
  • Regulatory Status For research use only.

  • Scientific Background CD44 protein is also known as the receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA). CD44 mediates cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions through its affinity for HA, and possibly also through its affinity for other ligands such as osteopontin, collagens, and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Adhesion with HA plays an important role in cell migration, tumor growth and progression. In cancer cells, CD44 may play an important role in invadopodia formation, and it also is involved in lymphocyte activation, recirculation and homing, and in hematopoiesis. Altered expression or dysfunction of CD44 causes numerous pathogenic phenotypes. CD44 has great protein heterogeneity due to numerous alternative splicing and post-translational modification events.
