Product DescriptionRabbit anti-C-reactive protein (CRP) Polyclonal Antibody (Unconjugated), suitable for WB.
Application DetailsWestern Blotting (WB). A concentration of 1.0 µg/mL is recommended for WB. Human C-reactive protein (isoform 1) has a predicted length of 224 residues and MW of 25 kDa. Biosensis recommends optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
TargetC-reactive protein (CRP)
SpecificityThe specificity of this antibody has been confirmed by WB against the antigen. Human;
Target Host SpeciesHuman
Immunogen DescriptionA synthetic peptide corresponding to a region (209-224 aa) from human C-reactive protein. To enhance the immunological response, this peptide was coupled to carrier protein BSA.
Purity DescriptionAffinity purified on antigen column
Reconstitution InstructionsSpin vial briefly before opening. Reconstitute in 100 µL sterile-filtered, ultrapure water to achieve an antibody concentration of 1 mg/mL. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
Storage InstructionsAfter reconstitution, aliquot and store at -20°C for a higher stability. Avoid freeze-thaw cycles.

Scientific BackgroundC-reactive protein has several roles associated with host defence such as; promoting agglutination, bacterial capsular swelling, phagocytosis and complement fixation through its calcium-dependent binding to phosphorylcholine. It can interact with DNA and histones and may scavenge nuclear material released from damaged circulating cells. COFACTOR: Binds 2 calcium ions per subunit. C-reactive protein exists as a homopentamer. There are 2 alternatively spliced isoforms. C-reactive protein is found in plasma and its concentration increases greatly during acute phase response to tissue injury, infection or other inflammatory stimuli. It is induced by IL-1 and IL-6.
